About Us

The Economic Society of Australia (Queensland) Inc is a voluntary association incorporated under the provisions of the Associations Incorporation Act (Qld). The Society, on incorporation in 1985, is the successor to the unincorporated Economic Society of Australia (Queensland Branch). Under its rules the Society may subscribe to or become a member of an organization having similar objects. The Society has continued to be the Queensland Branch of the Economic Society of Australia.

Under rules of the Society the day to day administration of its affairs is in the hands of the Management Committee which is elected at the Annnual General Meeting of the Society.

The principal objects of the Society are to:
  • encourage the study of economics and its application in Australia and to encourage informed public debate of economic and related questions
  • issue publications concerning the interests of members and to advance the objects of the Society
  • co-operate with the other Branches and the Central Council of The Economic conduct seminars, symposia, conferences and other meetings to advance the objects of the Society
  • promote the teaching and study of economics
