About Our Society

The New South Wales branch of the Economic Society of Australia was formed in 1925 and is the largest of the State branches. Anyone interested in contemporary economic issues and debates is invited to join. No special qualifications are required for membership, simply an interest in economic issues! Student members are eligible for discounted membership rates.

The main aims of the NSW Branch are:

  • to promote discussion of local and general economic issues
  • to promote the study of economics and related disciplines
  • to issue publications of economic interest

The NSW Branch seeks to fulfil these aims through its program of regular meetings, a monthly newsletter and the Economic Society's key journals, the Economic Record and Economic Papers.

NSW Branch Constitution

A Branch Council is elected each year to provide voluntary administration and organisation of the Society. The Council encourages members, particularly students, to participate in the organisation of functions. Please contact the Administrator to express your interest in becoming involved.
